APRICOT selects joint for initial development focus

The APRICOT consortium decided to select the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb as the small joint on which to focus the initial development. The simpler motion requirements (a hinge, not saddle joint) and gap in the market (with sufficient clinical demand) were the most compelling reasons. Once proof of concept is established for this joint, the concept could be extended to the other hinge joints in the hand where solutions either do not exist, or better solutions would be desirable.
